Art show reflection:

The 2018 Ashbury Art Show was successfully completed three weeks ago. The theme of this year’s art show was about fashion and how to make a difference,This was the first time I participate in the art show.As an art student I am very proud of all the other talented students. I am also thankful to my honourable teachers for organizing this amazing event. Before the art show, I went to help to set things up in the art classrooms. When I was hanging art works up and place them into place, I have already seen so many great works. Our grade had put our box arts and photo books, grade 10s have their stunning photographs on the theme of nature, grade 11s have human portraits and colourful dishes and finally grade 12s present their professional works to us. All of the artworks attracted my eyes. I could not even move my eyes away from them.  During lunch and after school, the art rooms were always fulled with students coming to help. I think the passion of art can let everyone contribute our spare time because art is free and jovial. The art show started at 7:00, almost the whole Ashbury came to participate in the art show. The corridor, classrooms, clc was full of audience. This shows that art is blend into everybody’s soul. I walked around and I saw a few of my works. I was excited to see many of my art works in this art show. I saw my box art, my photo box, my wooden puppet and my fashion sketches. They looked outstanding when they were being presented on a stand or a shelf. In the clc along with the music from the Jazz band, I see people wallowed in the beauty of the painting on the wall. People were chatting and taking pictures of the painting. Downstairs beside the music room. There were students helping to draw tattoos and stamps. Those were some fun activities I find after I was a bit soar. 7:45pm, the fashion show designed by a talented grade 11 girl started on time, the fashion show was definitely the highlight of the entire art show. Models dressed gorgeous dresses and suits on the runway. Everybody wanted to get the perfect spot to watch the show. I feel like I was in the New York fashion week. There are so much to explore in this art show. The art works were performed on papers, digital screen, photos and so on. I spent three entire hours taking pictures and viewing the meaning of all art works. All in a nutshell, the 2018 Ashbury Art Show is definitely the best experience for me in this school year.

Critical Analysis:

After watching the art show, I want to use the words “perfect and splendid” to describe it. It was a very great experience to me. It was very successful. The art show was a  mixture of all art works from every grade. The show reflected the work of students in a year and is performed in many different ways. For example, Ivanna’s jewellery pop up shop. Ivanna designed a lot of jewels by herself. The sketches she drew were very delicate. Then she send her design to the jewel factory and make her design into tactile objects. I was impressed by her drawings because they look so beautiful and Ivanna must have put a lot of effort into them. She tole me that jewel design is going to be her major in the future because she finds herself really into this area. I think the purpose why she chooses jewellery is that when people wear jewels she designs, it is a feature of self identity and confidence. There are a lot of arts which relates to technology.I saw a ball covered with paint in a tank that you can use an Ipad to control its direction. I find this very cool. I think this way to express art goes far beyond the meaning of art. It relates art with technology, with the future. It is modern idea to correspond colours with electronic devices. There are also Arduino boards, protractor screens, sound effects… In the art show, the fashion show attracted me the most. I can not oppose that fashion is a thing that many people  try to pursue in life.My dream is also to be a fashion designer. The designer uses chiffon to make very stunning gowns. The shape and tactile made the clothes very magical adn mysterious. The model were like fairies.I think the style the designer chose really fit the theme of Met Gala. It has the kind of religious symbols including in her designs. I like that a lot. Another art work I really like in the art show was painted by Gloria in Grade 11. Gloria likes cats a lotThe name of the painting is “ SHUAI GE DENG”.I like the feeling of this texture a lot because the shiny paper on the black is very traditional in the Chinese culture and the colour red and blue collide with each other to make the whole painting very cool. I think the eyes of this cat warrior are well painted. They make the cat looks very realistic and awesome.
