Exploration of camera

ISO
Photography ISO measures the sensitivity of the image sensor. The same principles apply as in film photography – the lower the number the less sensitive your camera is to light and the finer the grain.

Internet sample - Getting out of auto: Understanding ISO on your digital camera

P1, ISO 100 - Outdoor close-up shot of a tree, cloudy

P2, ISO 400 - Outdoor close-up shot of a tree, cloudy
My partner and I tested the aperture by taking several pictures of a fruit in front of the school. The tree, obviously is grown outdoor. The day we shot was cloudy. After the shooting, we found out that when ISO is lower (P1), the photograph appears to be dimmer. The entire image looks like it has been covered by a shadow. In comparison, when ISO is higher (P3), the picture is brighter and is closer to reality.

P3, ISO 3200 - Indoor, room with light

P4, ISO 200 - Outdoor, room with light
When we were inside, we found out that when the aperture is high(P3), the image tend to be clearer since the shutter speed if faster. The image is more blurry when the ISO is low as the shutter speed if longer. The lens closes up slower.
Aperture
An aperture is a hole or an opening through which light travels. More specifically, the aperture and focal length of an optical system determine the cone angle of a bundle of rays that come to a focus in the image plane.

Internet sample - What is aperture: Canon educational articles

P5, Aperture f/4.5

P6, Aperture f/38
We went to the chapel and experimented some very cool pictures by adjusting the aperture. The results are, a lower aperture gives a shallow depth of field, the picture is clear. Every detail, every pattern on the window can be seen well. The colours on the window are delicate. A higher aperture has a greater DOF, the lens absorbs less light, so the image has a surreal effect. When we shot this photograph, we move the camera up and down because the lens is stopping down. We also change the ISO lower so that this effect is created.
Photoshop experimentation

Experiment #1
Procedures:
1. Select a photo I like.
2. Use Crop Tool, trim the edges of the image.
3. From the tool bar on top, select Image> Adjustment > Curves(apply tools to change tone, exposure, gradient, etc)
4. Alter the curve lines(colour balance will change, to the left=brighter, to the right=dimmer).

Experiment #2
Procedures:
1. Select a photo I like.
2. Image> Levels> Move the error in the middle to adjust brightness
3. Image> Colour balance
4. Tool bar> Dodge tool> circle on the boys to make them stand out in the picture
